Internet Tools Can Save Time

Internet Tools are the widely used software applications that help us find our way around the internet and communicate online.

Some tools are used by everyone, and others are specific to a certain target market. There are a number of Internet tools that are available to make your online life easier with many of them available to use for free.

The Internet is many things to many people – it can be a place to shop, a place to hang out with friends, a place to research and learn new things, a place to work and a place to have fun. But, it is more than a place you can go to be entertained; you can also find useful tools to help manage your life. With the Internet, you can keep on top of just about anything. Here are some great resources and sites to help. And… they’re free!

COMMUNICATION

Communication is perhaps the biggest use of the Internet; and programs like Skype, Instant Messenger, Twitter, MySpace and Facebook are some of the most popular Internet tools out there. Go to any search engine (such as Google.com), type in the search window which communication tool you want to know more about.

TOOL TIME

View this cool little slide presentation if you're interested in being a "news researcher." You will learn more about what Internet tools are, why you use them, how you can learn about them, and where you can get them.

GOOGLE CALENDAR

With Google Calendar you can organize your schedule; receive reminders of events; and then share it with friends (with your friends also receiving reminders). Just pull up your calendar and see what is happening and use different methods of color coding to differentiate between work, family, and other obligations. Since it is Web based, Google Calendar can be accessed from anywhere you have the Internet.

Users are required to have a Google Account in order to use the software. (Go to Google.com. It’s free.)

REMEMBER THE MILK!

Don’t forget the milk (or anything else) again! You can create multiple task lists. Remember the Milk will send reminders to your mobile device and help you keep track of what you need no matter where you are. You can also increase the efficiency of your tasks when you integrate the map feature. Remember the Milk is compatible with Google Calendar.

MONEY MANAGEMENT

There are so many online money management applications that it is impossible to suggest just one. Mint.com, Wesabe.com and Gnucash.org are some of the favorite standbys. Quicken also offers online money management. You can even teach your kids about money with ManageMe.com and start to manage a high yield savings account (with prizes!) at Smartypig.com.

Here is a link to some online games that teach children about money: http://www.dfi.wa.gov/financial-education/resources-games.htm

If you want to track investment accounts, check out Wikinvest.com’s Portfolio. You can also manage your debt pay off plan with the help of DebtGoal.com.

Or… better yet, do what I did and run your own financial analysis. I use this personal financial software to track all of my finances. This software lets me know the precise amount of interest I can save and when I will be totally out of debt. It’s easy, safe and free; there’s no obligation.

Almost all of these money management tools use bank level encryption so that you can link your application to your bank accounts, which lets you keep track of exactly what is happening with your accounts. Additionally, many money management applications come with mobile versions to help you keep track whenever you need to.

GOOGE MAPS

Planning a trip? Try Google Maps.(Mapquest is a close second.) Google Maps provides a route planner for traveling by foot, car, or public transport and an urban business locator for many countries around the world.

It allows you to map out a route and see hotels, restaurants and attractions near that route. It’s also easy to view alternative routes. You can compare travel time and which route has more to see, or go to booking sites for hotels, which makes it easy to make travel plans. Then you can get directions right to the place you are staying. It is also possible, with some PTS devices, to sync up with Google Maps so that you can easily take your plans with you. Very cool...

The Internet has certainly made life a little more manageable by providing many useful internet tools. Everything you need is at your fingertips – or can be sent to your mobile device. If you know where to look, there are many tools available to make your life a little simpler.
